#PineCon24
Glen Nevis High Level
Led by JAHAMA Highland Estate.
Suitable for up to 10 people.
The route will be arduous, on steep wet and rough ground. There are no paths to these sites. Participants will require a high level of fitness and physical resilience to be part of the 'High Level' field trip. There will be a maximum of ten participants in this group. Mountaineering footwear is required, as are suitable waterproofs. Participants are to carry their own appropriate personal safety kit.
The main Glen Nevis CPI site, located within the Ben Nevis SSSI, is an important remnant of the Caledonian Forest. As relatively new owners of the landholding, JAHAMA Highland estate will provide two field trips in Glen Nevis, hosted by their Stalking team. Both provide an opportunity to discuss and consider the many challenges of how to manage the future restoration of these important sites.
This high-level route to the high-altitude Scots Pine stands in the Glen is far more challenging than the low level option and is limited to a maximum of 10 people.
In the event of severe weather, this field trip will follow the low-level route.
