#PineCon24
Virtual Field Trip
Led by National Trust for Scotland and Woodland Trust Scotland.
Suitable for up to 100 people
Hiking boots and walking poles won't be needed for the Virtual Field Trip. Instead we ask you to take a 5 minute stroll along to the comfort of the Highland Cinema!
The Virtual Field Trip has been commissioned by Woodland Trust Scotland, with filming taking place at two and contrasting Lochaber pinewoods in August 2024: Coille Phuiteachain a Caledonian Pinewood Inventory site in Glen Loy and Allt Mhuic, a wild pine site near Loch Arkaig.
This field trip will be available online after the conference to support pinewood management thinking, especially where a site visit is not feasible.
Engaging with communities is an important part of pinewood management on a landscape scale. During the visit to the Highland Cinema we will also screen the bilingual film, 'Màthair Giuthais' (Mother Pine) by Ali Berardelli and Lateral North. This film was made with support from Arkaig Community Forest and Woodland Trust Scotland, and features characters played by the nature group from Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Loch Abar.
