Richard Thompson works for Forestry and Land Scotland as their Native Woodland Ecologist. He specialises in management of ancient woodland sites and is one of the authors of the Woodland Herbivore Impact Assessment.

Richard is technical advisor for the FLS Rainforest Project and an active member of the Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest.

He has worked closely with James Rainey to review the condition of FLS pinewoods across the national forest estate.

He is the current secretary of the Native Pinewood Managers Group.
